🚶♂️ Boone Trace 250 – Day 45 (June 6)
📍 Start: Union City, KY
🏁 End: Redhouse, KY
📏 Distance: 5.5 miles | 🕗 Start Time: 11:00 AM
Today’s trek takes us from Union City to the historic community of Redhouse, following the natural ridges and quiet backroads that mirror the original Boone Trace. As we continue along Otter Creek and through the rolling Bluegrass hills, we draw closer to Fort Boonesborough—and the culmination of this 250-mile commemorative journey.
🏞️ Historic Highlight:
📍 Red House (Redhouse, KY) – Built in 1810, this privately owned brick home stands as a testament to Kentucky’s early frontier life. Once a stagecoach stop between Richmond and Fort Boonesborough, the house welcomed generations of travelers—many tracing the same path carved by Daniel Boone and his party in 1775.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Redhouse House is one of Madison County’s oldest surviving structures and an enduring piece of Kentucky’s transportation and settlement history. It marks the endpoint of today’s segment of the Boone Trace 250th Commemorative Relay. Tomorrow, the journey continues to the banks of the Kentucky River and the grounds of Fort Boonesborough.
