As the Boone Trace 250 journey continues toward Fort Boonesborough, hikers will make a meaningful stop at Richmond Battlefield Park, one of Kentucky’s most significant Civil War sites. Though brief, this visit offers a powerful moment of reflection on a different chapter in our nation’s journey.
Sharon Graves, President of the Madison County Historical Society, will open the event with a welcome and brief remarks. Phillip Seyfrit, Curator of the Park, will share insights into Kentucky’s pivotal role in the Civil War and how this history connects with the broader story of America 250, the upcoming national semiquincentennial.
Restrooms will be available for hikers, and the public is welcome to join and hear about the local and national legacy this site represents.
