Gibson Bay Golf Course Reception

June 5 @ 11:00 am12:00 pm

As the Boone Trace 250 commemorative hike continues its northward journey toward Fort Boonesborough, Day 44 brings us to Richmond, Kentucky, where we’ll pause for a refreshing midday stop and a moment of local storytelling.

Join us at the Gibson Bay Golf Course Clubhouse for light refreshments and a brief historical presentation by Lori Murphy-Tatum, Director of Richmond Tourism. She’ll share insights into the rich heritage of Richmond—from its frontier origins to its place along Boone’s historic path.

📍 Why This Spot Matters:
Located beside Lake Reba, the site lies above Otter Creek, the very stream Daniel Boone and his party followed in 1775 as they carved the original Boone Trace toward the Kentucky River. This landscape remains a quiet witness to those early footsteps that opened the gateway to the Bluegrass.

This is a great opportunity to connect with hikers, reflect on the landscape that shaped Kentucky’s story, and celebrate the role of Richmond in this 250th anniversary journey.
